Artist's Statement

I strive to express what I am seeing with emotion and minimal notes. ........"The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak." Hans Hoffman 

I guess that is why I love the impressionists, with one brilliant stroke they say so much with so little.

It is all so challenging to try and capture the beauty that God surrounds us with. This challenge seems impossible and keeps me striving to make these simple tools say what my heart wants to say.

Creating art gives so much joy. It makes us view our surroundings with great consciousness and the more our lives are lived with great consciousness the richer our art becomes.

I reside in Huntsville, Alabama with my family and paint and teach as much as I can while working full time. I also work at my brother's company H.C. Blake Co., our family run business since 1884!
