Rickie Higgins
Rickie Higgins was born in Tennessee in 1969, but has spent most of his years in Decatur, Alabama. Rickie began working in oils in 2003; however, in the past few years has expanded to mixed media. He paints on tar paper and uses wax and polish to create texture. Rickie completed a BFA in visual communication from Auburn University in 1991. He also holds education degrees from Athens State and UAB. He has had a solo show in the Carnegie Visual Arts Center in Decatur, Alabama. . Rickie was selected as the Panoply poster artist two years in a row and is represented in local galleries in Kathleen’s in Decatur and The Little Green Store in Huntsville. He creates in his home studio in Decatur, Alabama. Rickie and his wife Rebekah have three sons: Chris, Bailey, and Sam.
