News from The Little Green Team

Sweet Summer Time

Are y'all hot, or is it just us? This week certainly feels like summer! We have the perfect cure for the heat... WATER.  On August 3rd the Little Green Team will host its monthly gallery exhibit and you do not want to miss this show. Daniel White's "Lakes, Rivers and Shores" is exactly what you need to pull you through the dog days of summer.

White is a visual artist from Birmingham, AL. His primary subject is “Billy,” an autobiographical in paint form.

Boy with a Raft

Billy is the boy of the artist, and through his work he relives personal narratives and personal memories. Growing up, bodies of water were a familiar setting for his family.

Often details are either enhanced or erased, similar to the way we process our own memory. Through this process, Daniel hopes to communicate with his audience in a universal way, allowing him to tell his story but inviting the viewer to connect and share their own story as well.

We cannot wait to show you his newest pieces! Maker sure to mark your calendar for August 3rd, 5pm to 8pm.

Speaking of summer... have you picked up the new issue of No’Ala magazine yet? The summer issue is out and it is gorgeous.

I spy some great art from TLGS by Alan Davis!

And some of our favorite glass pieces

Are you headed to the pool or the lake this weekend? Want a good read?? Pick up a copy today! You can thank the Little Green Team later.

PS - Want to know the coolest spot in Huntsville?  Monte Sano!  If you need a break from the heat drive up to The Little Green Store.  We'd love to see you!

Damson is a Contemporary Realist whose subject matters range from still life, to figurative, landscape and portraiture. She considers the real product of her art to be the process and the resulting paintings, trinkets that happen to collect along her journey.

Scull is a Traditional Realist, painting portraits, figure and still life. He says for as long as he can remember he has had a great desire to create powerful realist art.

What's Inspiring Us Today

Local artist Zara Edwards Lowry is debuting her newest work, Hope Huts, at the Gallery this month, and we cannot stop staring at them. Followers of the artist will recognize the new three-dimensional pieces as the subject from several of her previous pieces, like in the works below.
Zara writes,“I first started painting Hope Huts early in my career, the inspiration came from wanting to portray a place of refuge and protection, but also, something familiar, a home, basic, rudimentary and without frills...I thought why not let them come out of the canvas and stand alone?”
Oh my, are we glad she did!
She explains, “As an immigrant, traveling, uprooting and moving around always made me feel the urge to create a home base, no matter where I lived. A place that allowed me to feel grounded throughout many drastic changes in my life. The idea of having safety and a place to rest at the end of a day is a must to replenish energy and give us hope to carry through and embark on the journey ahead. They are solid reminders of freedom, seclusion, safety and hope, the things that are simple and yet so important in our daily life...”
Zara’s Hope Huts are selling fast, but while they last The Little Green Team is thankful for the daily reminder. Click here to see the collection. Better yet, come in today and see them in person.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

Why not play online today?!
Rain got you down? The Little Green Team has the cure. Pour a cup of coffee (PS if you’re not drinking it out of this cup, you’re missing out!) grab your laptop, and check out some of the jewelry we can’t stop trying on here in the Gallery lately.

Robindra Unsworth inspires to make designs that make women feel beautiful and powerful, and we think she is nailing it. These three necklaces are our favorites right now.
Click here to see all of her pieces on our website.
Another designer we can never get enough of is Adel Chefridi. Chefridi walked into a jeweler’s studio as a young child and remembers thinking that the man must be a magician, with his magnifying glasses and torch in hand, playing with fire. Chefridi says he always loved magic as a child.  Now he is creating his own magic…
To see more of his work, click here.

Lastly, we cannot get enough of our newest jewelry designer, Kate Maller. With a passion for protecting people and our planet, Maller usues high quality 18/22k recycled gold, recycled argentium silver, and 100% conflict free and fair-trade diamonds. We love her mission, and we love her work!
